Ease the pain after the workout

Every time I used to come back after the gym I would go into a vegetable stage as I couldn’t deal with fatigue and the tiredness. But it was not the worst of it, I also knew that come tomorrow and I will be crawling with the worms twisting in pain. If you train hard and really push yourself there is always a price to pay for daring the gods the next day.

What happensYour muscles get ripped and that’s why it hurts. Because in fact it is an injury you are experiencing. In order to change your muscles have to go through that again and again and it only stops when you stop your training for a long period of time. That’s where the phrase “No pain, no gain” comes from. Every time it hurts, you are gaining. Well, at least it’s something to be glad about, heh? What to do about itThere are a few tricks you can do to ease the pain after the workout. They won’t illuminate it but they will certainly help you feel better. Have a hot shower. Hot water helps your muscles relax and it will hurt significantly less.

Effect: immediate. It also helps them heal faster.Massage. Ask your partner or a friend to give you a nice massage to relax and calm your muscles.

During exercise your muscles get ripped and they are basically restructuring making you experience every second of the process and a good massage can speed it up. Both the shower and the massage work in the same way: they help blood rush into the muscle, the muscle warms up, blood carries nutrients which help it heal faster.Make sure you finish your workout with stretching especially when it comes to calves. Have you experienced a kind of pain in your calves when you are trying to fall asleep same or the next night after the training? Unless you massage them the pain doesn’t go away. But if you do a simple stretching exercise to finish with after the workout you can escape that night experience. Make an energy drink: orange juice. Oranges are the source of the Vitamin C and are perfect for boosting your energy up as well as helping your body to recover. Make a fresh glass of orange juice and drink it in the next 15 minutes (you only have a small window of opportunity here – once you’ve made it the vitamins will disappear from it in next half an hours).

Escaping a vegetable stateNow escaping a vegetable state is a little bit more complicated. If you train hard and when even thinking of moving is frightening there is only one way to help it. Rest. But I am not talking about sleep although it will certainly be the ultimate solution but not many of us (if anyone) can afford to sleep during the day! So the “rest” has to be short but productive: lie on the bed (or sofa) or sit in the comfortable chair, make yourself go blank and relax completely like the world just stopped existing for 15 minutes, think of nothing, think of something you would truly enjoy in this moment like a walk by the sea for example. Your mind is a complicated machine but you can control it. It knows you just have done something hard and it demands a rest. If you will keep pushing yourself it will only get worse and eventually you are going to have a breakdown. But these 15 minutes you can give yourself can cover it all perfectly. Your mind will remember the joy and will leave you alone to carry on with your day.
